Women’s Learning Style - Collaboration

Most women have cooperative and collaborative learning styles which value experience and connecting with others. Girls respond well to working cooperatively in relaxed atmospheres with hands-on experiences (AAUW, 1995).

WOMEN’S LEARNING

In general, women are relational learners whose motivation to learn depends upon how relevant it is to our lives. Most of women’s valued lessons are learned with friends, colleagues, via life crises, transitions and community involvement. Women tend to place emphasis on relevance and personal meaning in what is taught and how we feel about that information. For many women, the truth is personal, practical and rooted in first hand experience.
